Creating an American Flag Balloon Wall is a fun way to create a unique display, and it's much easier than you might think.
We've got the step by step instructions on how to put it all together.
- Handheld Balloon Pump (included with your Kit)
- If you're making your American Flag wall outside you'll want stakes (or something similar) and string to secure the bottom of your American Flag wall to the ground
STEP 1. Choose the location to hang your American Flag Balloon Wall
If you are assembling your balloon flag in one location and moving it to the final spot, we recommend securing the sliding part of your curtain rod (if it's an extendable one) with some tape to secure the sliding pieces in place so it won't shift while you're making the move.
STEP 2. Decide on the size of your American Flag Balloon Wall
In our example, we made a BIG flag and used 1 balloon kit and still had some extras left over, but you could make a smaller display and have balloons left over to use as a garland, and to have extras on hand in case any balloons pop.
We recommend attaching both ends of the curtain rod, as well as the middle, so the rod doesn’t shift or lean to one side or another.
Make sure you leave yourself some extras in case any balloons pop and you need to replace them.
STEP 3. Blow up the Balloons
Take your first blue link balloon and start blowing it up by holding the opening of the balloon tight around the tip of the balloon pump.
Once you've got it blown up to the desired size, start to wrap the opening of the balloon around your fingers as if you are going to tie it.
Before you pull the opening of the balloon through the loop of your knot, place the tail of your next balloon between your two fingers beside the opening of the first balloon.
Then when you finishing tying the knot the balloons will be linked together.
Alternatively, you can blow up and tie the balloons separately and then tie them together after.
Once you've linked the next balloon, you can start to blow it up.
Then repeat until you've finished all of the vertical links that will make up your flag.
STEP 4. Hang your Garlands
If you are displaying the balloon flag outside, consider weather, heat and wind. It’s best to avoid the balloons from being in direct outside sunlight as it may affect their lifespan.
Once you've got your balloon garlands hung, the final step is to tie strings to the bottom of the balloons and anchor them to the ground with stakes or something similar. This will make sure that your American Flag balloon wall stays in place.
Share your American Flag Balloon wall with us. We'd love to see it!
