Do you love Harry Potter as much as we do? Or maybe you have a little one that does and you're looking for a birthday party theme. There are so many wonderful details to the beloved Harry Potter story which makes it a great theme to use for a birthday party.
Now you may be wondering...

What do you do for a Harry Potter Birthday Party?
Creating a Harry Potter Birthday Party begins by incorporating some of the well known and loved elements to create a magical environment that any party guest will enjoy.
We threw an intimate Harry Potter Birthday Party for one of our kids and these are some of our favorite magical party ideas.

EVERY WIZARD MUST HAVE A WAND
First of all, what is a wizard without his wand? Since every wizard needs a magical wand, we included the wand, along with the classic Harry Potter tie and glasses to be a focal point of the table settings.
Each wizard at the party received their very own wand! These happened to be official wands from Universal Studios but we love the idea of a DIY project for each wizard to make their very own. It makes a great Harry Potter party activity.

UNIQUE PARTY DECOR FINDS
One of the things that we love about throwing parties is finding unique elements to incorporate into the decor.
If you shop at thrift shops regularly you know that there are some real gems to be found. We came across these gold/pewter charger plates that we knew would be a great addition to the table and we paired them with these Harry Potter paper plates.

What do you serve at a Harry Potter Party?
For our intimate Harry Potter Birthday Party, we set up a dessert and candy buffet full of Harry Potter inspired treats and we made our Riles & Bash Snowy White Owl Piñata one of the key decor elements.
MAGICAL WIZARD SWEET TREATS
The favorite sweet treat from our dessert buffet was the Harry Potter themed cupcakes. We added Harry Potter cupcake toppers to the amazingly delicious cupcakes from our favorite local bakeshop, Cupcake Royale . Our wizards loved them!

They also got to indulge in "Forbidden beans" (which were actually Starburst jelly beans that were a great color match for a Harry Potter theme ), "Slithering Snakes" (gummy worms), Wizard Hats (Triangle Triscuits), and selection of "Magic Wands" (Pirouettes and licorice sticks).

How do you make a Harry Potter party potion?
Mixing potions is a very wizard thing to do so we created a collection with unique bottles we found at the local thrift store. There were so many options to choose from that we had to pick our absolute favorites!
We filled them with water that we tinted with a few drops of food coloring and then used this Harry Potter Printable Potion Bottle Labels-free download and DIY project to put it all together.
Ferrero Rochers paired with Golden Doily wings were our "Golden Snitches" and made the perfect chocolate treats to scatter throughout the dessert buffet and the main dining table. Try not eating one of these while you're making them. We dare you...

We used these mini gold doilies for our wings and followed this simple DIY on How to Make a Chocolate Golden Snitch.
When the Birthday Boy finally got to see his Harry Potter Birthday Party he was overjoyed. It was so fun watching him check out all of the little details.

THE PINATA GAME FINALE
The finale for our Harry Potter party was taking the snowy white owl piñata outside and hitting it open for all of the yummy candy treats that were awaiting inside. Everyone loved this game...adults and kids alike!
